Concord is located in the Inner West region of Sydney; it is situated 15 km west of the Sydney central business district in New South Wales, Australia. Concord is located in the Drummoyne state electorate and has a population of 14,150 people. The suburbs surrounding Concord are: Concord West, Mortlake, Breakfast Point, Cabarita, Canada Bay, Burwood and Strathfield.
The suburb is named for the Battle of Concord which was fought in Concord Massachusetts in the USA, and was one of the first battles of the American Revolutionary War. Concord is known for its shopping strip on Majors Bay Road which houses many cafes and restaurants where locals enjoy outside dining.
Concord is home to St Luke’s Anglican Church which was built over 15o years ago. The church houses an antique organ, which was donated in 1883 by Dame Eadith Walker, daughter of Australian politician Thomas Walker, on the occasion of her 21st birthday. Later, Dame Eadith Walker went on to establish the Concord Repatriation Hospital.
The suburb is also home to many parks including Queen Elizabeth Park, and Majors Bay Reserve which is the starting point for the Concord Foreshore Trail.
