Mortlake is located in the Drummoyne state electorate and has a population of 489 people. The suburbs surrounding Mortlake are: Rhodes, putney, Tennyson Point, Breakfast Point, Cabarita, Concord, Homebush Bay and Concord West.
Sitting on the southern bank of the Parramatta River, Mortlake is home to the Putney Punt – aka the Mortlake Ferry – which is the last remaining Punt service in New South Wales. Originally known as Bottle Point, Mortlake is named for the village on the banks of the Thames in London. Parramatta River is colloquially known as the “Thames of the Antipodes” and for that reason many of the suburbs along its banks are named after villages on the Thames, including Greenwich, Putney and Woolwich.
