Yennora is located in the Western suburbs of Sydney; it is situated 29 km west of the Sydney central business district in New South Wales, Australia. Yennora is located in the Fairfield state electorate and has a population of 1,286 people. The suburbs surrounding Yennora are: Smithfield, Guildford, Fairfield, Old Guildford and Fairfield East.
Prior to white settlement the Yennora area was inhabited by the Cabrogal indigenous group, a sub-tribe of the Gandangara indigenous people who inhabited the Fairfield and Parramatta area for over 30,000 years. The suburb was named Yennora in 1927, after the Aboriginal word meaning ‘to stroll’.
While Yennora does have a small residential population, the suburb is primarily dominated by industrial area, including the Yennora Distribution Centre which manages freight services between Melbourne and Brisbane.
The Yennora railway station hosts the Inner West & South rail line, the Cumberland line, and the Airport line of the Sydney Trains network.
