Kingsgrove is located in the southern suburbs of Sydney; it is situated 13 km south of the Sydney central business district in New South Wales Australia. Kingsgrove is located in the Kogarah and Lakemba state electorates and has a population of 10.620 people. The suburbs surrounding Kingsgrove are: Beverly Hills, Earlwood, Clemton Park, Bexley North, Hurstville and Bexley.
The suburb of Kingsgrove was named in honour of Governor Philip King who granted land to Hannah Laycock, wife of Quartermaster Thomas Laycock, in 1804, shortly after European settlement. The suburb was called Kings Grove for many years before being shortened to Kingsgrove for simplicity.
Kingsgrove is primarily a residential suburb, and has a reputation for being very ethnically diverse with international residents hailing from China, Greece and Italy. The main shopping district of Kingsgrove can be found south of the Kingsgrove railway station on Kingsgrove Road.
