Wentworthville is located in the Western Suburbs region of Sydney; it is situated 27 km west of the Sydney CBD, in New South Wales, Australia. Wentworthville is located in the Parramatta state electorate and has a population of 2,415 people. The suburbs surrounding Wentworthville are: Toongabbie, Old Toongabbie, Northmead, Pendle Hill, Westmead, Mays Hill, Greystanes, South Wentworthville and Merrylands West.
Wentworthville was named after the William Wentworth, the famous explorer, barrister, politician, newpaper publisher and landowner. Other areas in New South Wales that were named after William Wentworth include Wentworth Falls in the Blue Mountains, and the town of Wentworth in Far Western New South Wales.
The suburb was largely unpopulated until the mid 1800s when the area experienced a land boom which attracted large numbers of new people to the area. Prior to 2007, the suburb of Constitution Hill was part of Wentworthville, in 2007 the boundaries were redrawn and the suburb was split into two parts.
