The suburb of Oyster Bay is named for the Oyster Bay waterway, a natural feature on the Southern banks of the Georges River. Primarily a residential area, the suburb is well known for its picturesque views.
The suburb is quite small, but there is a small commercial area located at the intersection of Oyster Bay Road and Como Road, which includes a chemist, liquor store, newsagency and convenience store as well as a cafe, bakery and pizzeria.
While the suburb has no train station, it is serviced by Transdev buses which run 10 times daily to transport residents to the nearby Jannali and Como railway stations.
