About Denistone Sydney 2114
Denistone is located in the North Western region of Sydney; it is situated 16 km north west of the Sydney CBD in New South Wales, Australia. Denistone is located in the Ryde state electorate and has a population of 3,566 people. The suburbs surrounding Denistone are: Eastwood, Denistone West, Denistone East, and West Ryde.
Prior to white settlement, the Denistone area was inhabited by the Wallumedegal Indigenous people who were the traditional land owners of the entire land area between the Lane Cove River and the Parramatta River. The area was originally called Walumetta. The suburb was named for a home in the area called Dennistone which was burnt down by bushfires in 1855.
These days, Denistone is primarily a residential area, and because the suburb doesn’t have a commercial ‘hub’ it’s centre is considered to be the railway station. Denistone is home to Darvall Park, a forest reserve famous for its native flora including Waddy wood, Orange Bark, Red Olive Berry, Sydney Blue Gum and Forest Nightshade. The park is also home to the Ring Tail Possum, Satin Bowerbird and Australian King Parrot.
