Revesby is located in the south western suburbs of Sydney; it is situated 22 km south west of the Sydney central business district in New South Wales Australia. Revesby is located in the East Hills state electorate and has a population of 8,475 people. The suburbs surrounding Revesby are: Milperra, Condell Park, Bankstown, Panania, Padstow, Picnic Point, Revesby Heights and Padstow Heights.
Located within the City of Bankstown, Revesby is primarily a residential suburb and was developed as part of the post-war urban sprawl of Sydney. The suburb contains mostly modest freestanding “fibro” bungalows.
The suburb was named after Sir Joseph Banks, a famous botanist who sailed on the Endeavour and who was known as the “Squire of Revesby” for his father’s estate in Lincolshire England which was called “Revesby Abbey”.
Revesby’s primary shopping centre is located across from the Revesby railway station along Marco Avenue and Selems Parade. The railway station is on the Inner West & South line of the Sydney Trains network and during peak hours express services run via Redfern and Sydenham.
