Wolloomooloo is located in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney; it is situated 1.5 kms east of the Sydney CBD, in New South Wales, Australia. Wolloomooloo is located in the Wentworth state electorate and has a population of 3,038 people. There is some contention as to the meaning of the word Wolloomooloo; some sources believe it is from the Aboriginal word ‘Wallamullah’ meaning ‘place of plenty’. The suburbs surrounding Wolloomooloo are: Sydney CBD, Port Jackson, Potts Point, Darlinghurst and Kings Cross.
After the arrival of the first fleet in 1788, Wolloomooloo was called Garden Cove, or Garden Island Cove.
