North Richmond is located in the North Western region of Sydney; it is situated 67 km north west of the Sydney central business district in New South Wales Australia. North Richmond is located in the Londonderry state electorate and has a population of 4,601 people. The suburbs surrounding North Richmond are: Kurrajong, Kurmond, Tennyson, Freemans Reach, Glossodia, Richmond Lowlands, Grose Vale, Grose Wold, Agnes Banks and Richmond.
North Richmond is a semi-rural suburb which is separated from the suburb of Richmond by the Hawkesbury River. The suburb was originally known as Enfield but the name was later changed to avoid confusion between the Suburb Enfield located in Sydney’s Inner West.
The suburb has 3 distinct traffic areas along Grose Vale Road, Elizabeth Street and Bells Line of Road. There is a small commercial area and a shopping mall which houses a Coles supermarket, Subway and Dominos Pizza.
To the south, lies the Hawkesbury River and to the north are the impressive World Heritage Listed Blue Mountains which have many places of interest including the Jenolan Caves, the Katoomba Scenic Railway, the Norman Lindsay Gallery and Museum, and Red Hand Cave where hand stencils of the early Aboriginal people can be seen.
