About Ingleburn Sydney 2565

Ingleburn is located in the western suburbs of Sydney; it is situated 44 km south west of the Sydney central business district in New South Wales Australia. Ingleburn is located in the Campbelltown state electorate and has a population of 13,902 people. The suburbs surrounding Ingleburn are: Denham Court, Macquarie Links, Macquarie Fields, Long Point, Bow Bowing, Minto and Minto Heights.

Prior to white settlement the Ingleburn area was inhabited by the Tharawal indigenous people. After the arrival of the settlers in 1788, land in the Ingleburn area was granted to soldiers in the NSW Corps and the area became known as "Soldier Flat", and later, Macquarie Fields, before being officially called Ingleburn in 1883. The name Ingleburn came from the Scottish word meaning "bend in the river" referring to the nearby bend in the Georges River.

The Ingleburn railway station is heritage listed, but remains an active station on the Airport, Cumberland and Inner West & South railway lines of the Sydney Trains Network. There are also bus services run by Busabout and Interline bus networks.

The suburb has many themed street names, one such lot of streets is named after English localities, another named for Birds and another still for cars.
